Timothy Rees joins East Oaks Studio for a 4-day boutique workshop as he presents his unique, color forward method of painting figures. Participants will learn how to navigate the complexity of the human form, balancing the articulation of anatomy against the vivid color of impressionist painting to marriage the two traditionally separate schools of thought.
The workshop will dive into a system of color mixing that breaks away from formulaic skin tone mixing and focuses on replication of any observed color. Concepts of light and optics as they fall on the skin will guide observation and bolster dynamic color effects. This approach to color mixing is suitable for any level, even those with no prior color experience. Those with experience will learn to hone their precision and speed to the next level. This facility with color will allow students to, in turn, focus onto the challenge of anatomy.
Participants will gain an understanding of overall anatomical proportions and relationships of smaller divisions of anatomy. Then, through the exploration of superficial anatomy, participants will confidently marriage understanding of the human form with striking color and descriptive brush work.
This exclusive workshop is limited to six students, who will receive an exceptional amount of one-on-one instruction from Timothy.
This workshop will take place at East Oaks Studio in Cary, NC. The exact address and directions will be provided after registration.

A materials list will be provided.
Cancellation Policy: A partial refund of $875 is available until June 30th. If you need to cancel after this point, you are responsible for the full cost of the workshop, unless the space is able to be filled, in which case we offer a refund of $875. We will happily work with you on filling the space, if the situation arises.
