Ruth Fitton joins East Oaks Studio for a boutique 3-day workshop exploring expressive portrait painting. This will be a small workshop, limited to seven in-person attendees.
The course will focus on the creation of a fully developed portrait from life, beginning from a strong narrative composition, through to refining a precise likeness. We will study the use of colour mixing and edge-work to create an exciting illusion of form, and brushwork as a means of portraying character.
Morning sessions will consist of a short lecture followed by a painting demo, in which Ruth will explain fundamental concepts and demonstrate how to apply them.
Afternoon sessions will give students an opportunity to put into practice what they learned in the demo, and receive feedback.
This exclusive workshop is limited to seven in-person students, who will receive a significant amount of one-on-one instruction from Ruth.
This workshop will take place at East Oaks Studio in Cary, NC. The exact address and directions will be provided after registration.
There is a wide array of accommodation options in the area. A list of options and resources will be sent out after registration.
A materials list will be provided.
Cancellation Policy: A partial refund of $850 is available until September 7th. If you need to cancel after this point, you are responsible for the full cost of the workshop, unless the space is able to be filled, in which case we offer a refund of $850. We will happily work with you on filling the space, if the situation arises.
A full refund is unavailable as we need to account for payment processing fees. Thank you for your understanding!
