Expressive Still-Life Painting with Jared Brady

Explore bold still-life techniques while strengthening your fundamental skills.
Jared Brady joins East Oaks Studio this December to dive into the exciting world of still-life painting! In this three-day boutique workshop, we will explore both alla prima and multi-session approaches to painting from life.
You’ll learn how to combine different elements such as flowers, metal, porcelain, and more into expressive compositions with visual flow. Along the way, Jared will share practical tips for handling tricky materials and strategies for creating paintings full of life.
Day 1: Alla Prima Still-Life
+Morning - Introduction and alla prima still-life demo.
+Afternoon - Students will paint an alla prima still-life setup from life with one-on-one guidance and critiques.
Day 2: Multi-Session Still-Life Start
+Morning - Beginning of a two-day still-life painting with a focus on planning and design for a more complex setup.
+Afternoon - Students will start their own two-day still-life paintings from life with one-on-one guidance and critiques.
Day 3: Multi-Session Still-Life Finish
+Morning - Refining and finishing the two-day still-life painting.
+Afternoon - Students will continue and finalize their two-day still-life from the previous day with one-on-one guidance and critiques.
Morning sessions will consist of a live demonstration, in which Jared will describe his process as he paints and answer questions, and will be livestreamed for our virtual audience. Afternoon sessions will give in-person students an opportunity to put into practice what they learned in the demo, and receive feedback.
This exclusive workshop is limited to six students, who will receive an exceptional amount of one-on-one instruction from Jared.
This workshop will take place at East Oaks Studio in Cary, NC. The exact address and directions will be provided after registration.
There is a wide array of accommodation options in the area. A list of options and resources will be provided after registration.
A materials list will also be provided.
Cancellation Policy: A partial refund of $775 is available until November 3rd. If you need to cancel after this point, you are responsible for the full cost of the workshop, unless the space is able to be filled, in which case we offer a refund of $775. We will happily work with you on filling the space, if the situation arises.
